ILOILO City – A dispute among family members led to a rumble and left a man dead in Barangay Bigke, Leganes, Iloilo, police said.
The 43-year-old resident Gil Guillano died of a stab wound on the stomach at the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro district.
Police have identified a suspect: his uncle, 46-year-old farmer Renato Jayopin.
Jayopin himself was injured and turned himself in to the police after getting treated at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao, said investigator Police Officer 2 Emmanuel Maude.
The rumble happened at around 2:30 a.m. on March 18 when the victim and the suspects’ families were binge drinking outside a dance hall as the village celebrates its annual fiesta, Maude said, citing initial investigation.
“It was a family feud,” the police officer said without disclosing details. “They were all were drunk.”
Guillano was found bloodied and lying on the ground after the fight, Maude said.
Jayopin was detained at the Leganes police station custodial facility./PN
