BACOLOD City – A farmer was shot dead inside a cock farm on Wednesday in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town.
Renato Italia, a resident of Purok Paglaum in the barangay, sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his body from a 12-gauge shotgun.
Senior Inspector Hector Balbon said the 33-year-old victim was set to buy two sacks of ginger at the market.
Balbon identified the suspect as Jerome Lamiti, 18, a caretaker of a cock farm owned by a certain Diony Vocal from Metro Manila.
According to Lamiti, Italia, together with another man, entered the farm to steal fighting cocks.
Italia’s companion was able to escape, Lamiti added.
The suspect is currently detained./PN
