ILOILO City – A land dispute drove a father and his son to a fatal confrontation in Barangay Idiacacan, Pandan, Antique.

The 47-year-old Inocencio Gumboc attacked his 79-year-old father Esteban with a bolo around 2:50 a.m. yesterday.

Esteban, though wounded, managed to shoot his son on the chest using a .38 revolver.

Both father and son died, according to Police Officer 2 Jomer Ybot of the Pandan police station.

From what the police so far gathered, a drunken Inocencio woke up his already sleeping father and confronted him with rumors going around that their farm would be sold.

There was a heated argument, said Ybot.

“The younger Gumboc was often heard telling friends he would kill his father should their farm be sold,” said Ybot.

The other Gumboc siblings denied they were planning to sell their family farm.

Pandan policemen recovered from the Gumboc house the .38 revolver and bolo./PN
