ILOILO City – More than a hundred persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) – Female Dormitory received gifts from the Iloilo City Hall Press Corps (ICHPC) here.
ICHPC, a group of reporters covering city hall, led by its president Runelyn Jamolo turned over some goods and sacks of rice to the female PDLs on March 31, the end of Women’s Month celebration.
“We all deserve a second chance. Even PDLs. This is the belief f the Iloilo City Hall Press Corps (ICHPC) and the PDLs in the female dormitory need our support while waiting for the progress of their cases in courts,” said Jamolo.
Three boxes of sanitary napkins, three boxes of laundry bars and another box of bath soap were given to the beneficiaries through the generosity of SM City Iloilo while the three sacks of rice were given by the DA Western Visayas.
“These goods and rice may not be enough but ICHPC believes this can pull their spirits up,” Jamolo added.
For decades now, ICHPC members had been conducting traditional gift giving activities under the leaderships of their presidents especially during holidaysSeason.
