CAPIZ – Three houses in Barangay Lantangan, Pontevedra town were completely destroyed after they caught fire on Tuesday morning, Feb. 13.
The affected houses were owned by Jose Genoves, 47, Jonel Genoves, 22, and Gelbert Reyes.
Damages from the blaze amounted to over P16,000.

Senior Fire Officer 1 James Agarrado, spokesperson of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Pontevedra, said the fire started at around 10:42 a.m. at Genoves’ house.
It quickly spread to the adjacent houses, which were all made of mixed-light materials.
Agarrado mentioned that the blaze was likely electrical, although further investigation is still ongoing.
Residents also heard an explosion before the fire was noticed, he added.
At around 11:10 a.m., a “fire out” was declared.
No injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Agarrado reminded homeowners to have their electrical systems double-checked by a professional to prevent future incidents./PN
