ILOILO City – Part of a 15-hectare sugarcane plantation was razed by fire in Barangay Guililang, President Roxas, Capiz.

Plantation owner Nemecio Tan told the police armed men were the culprits.

Tuesday’s fire struck the plantation around 9 a.m. The Bureau of Fire Protection of President Roxas and neighboring towns helped put it out.

Aside from torching the plantation, the armed men also fired their guns, hitting the concrete wall the plantation’s warehouse, Tan told the police.

No suspects were named as of this writing./PN
