ILOILO City – A total of 24 firearms were voluntarily surrendered and deposited with Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) units over a 24-hour period under the ongoing Project RTT 3389 campaign.
According to official data recorded from 6 a.m. on October 22 to 5:59 a.m. on October 23, residents voluntarily surrendered 14 firearms while 10 additional guns were deposited with local police stations pending license renewals.
Meanwhile, 19 police operations yielded one seized firearm, three explosive devices, and two arrests.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño emphasized that achieving 100-percent involvement across all 3,389 barangays in Western Visayas is an ongoing effort to curtail gun violence.
PRO-6 continues to urge gun owners with expired licenses or unrecorded firearms to coordinate with the nearest police station for proper turnover or safekeeping procedures./PN
