ILOILO City – Four houses were struck by fire around 3:40 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Cabugao Sur, Santa Barbara, Iloilo.
No one was reported injured but an estimated P335,000 worth of properties were damaged, according to the municipal fire station.
An unattended candle was a possible cause of the blaze, said Fire Officer 2 Rey Tabudlong, investigator at the Santa Barbara Fire Station.
The house of Jonathan Alanis, where the fire started, lacked electricity and the occupants were using candles as light source, Tabudlong said.
Alanis’ house was destroyed while the houses of Florencia Alanis, Lizel Alanis and Joan Go were damaged.
Firefighters declared a “fire out” at around 4:25 a.m. Investigation continues./PN
