ILOILO City – A construction worker at the Jalandoni National High School in Lapuz district was accused of threatening a coworker with a gun.
Paterno Laroza Jr. was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the school in Barangay Jalandoni Estate.
A homemade firearm was seized from him, a police report showed.
School security guard Remy Lubrico sought help from Police Officer 2 Eliseo Benliro Jr. in catching Laroza.
Laroza tried to escape but was cornered after a brief chase.
The firearm lacked a serial number while Laroza had no document proving his legal ownership of the weapon.
The police report did not identify the coworker.
The firearm was turned over to the Police Regional Office 6 crime laboratory.
Laroza was facing a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
