SAN JOSE, Antique – Owners of firearms with expired licenses to own and possess are encouraged to register via a Philippine National Police (PNP) caravan in Antique.
Registration services, including neuropsychological exam, gun safety seminar and drug testing – all available only at the Police Regional Office 6, will be brought to Antique, said PNP Provincial Advisory Committee member Margie L. Gadian.
The “one-stop shop registration” for the license to own and possess (LTOP) firearms in the province will be set up from Oct. 11 to 13 at the Advance Central College Annex Building in this capital town.
But organizers estimate that they could accommodate only 100 applicants per day, or 300 for the entire duration of the caravan.
A total of 3,141 firearms in the province have expired licenses, said Superintendent Norby Escobar, deputy director for operations of the Antique Police Provincial Office.
Escobar encouraged their owners to take advantage of the caravan.
Applicants should prepare around P3,000 as processing fee covering the tests, seminar and clearances, said Gadian, also the provincial government consultant on peace and order and public safety.
They will have to wait for at least three months for the status of their application, Gadian said. Licenses to own and possess firearms are approved at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Aside from the certificate on undergoing the gun safety seminar and the neuropsychological and drug tests, new applicants must submit, among others:
- a filled-out application form

original copy of two valid government-issued identification cards

original Regional Trial Court clearance

National Bureau of Investigation clearance

original birth certificate

proof of billing/barangay clearance

proof of income
Meanwhile, Escobar reminded police officers to acquire an LTOP for their personal firearms.
Gun owners who fail to renew their firearms or voluntarily surrender their firearms with expired licenses will be subject to Oplan Katok, he said. (PIA/PN)
