ILOILO City – The first day of classes in this southern city went smoothly with the help of barangay officials and warm welcome of the community.
City School Superintendent Ma. Luz Delos Reyes cited the contribution of barangay officials, especially in distributing learning modules to students.
In some areas on lockdown, barangay officials begged off. But Delos Reyes said once quarantine measures are lifted, the barangay officials would be ready to assist.
She added that teachers also felt the warm welcome of the community.
Meanwhile, Delos Reyes noted that one good practice relative to the new learning system (distancing learning through modules or online classes) was the learning guide for students.
Learners should have the view that education is a continuous process and it should not be disrupted, she stressed.
“Biskan may delay basta sige-sige lang,” said Delos Reyes.
She also advised parents to enjoy guiding their children.
“Ari kita kami diri to support your children,” she emphasized.
She also said that learning materials are not a punishment for parents.
“Let us not feel burdened about this because the Department of Education is here 24 hours maga-assist,” Delos Reyes said./PN
