ILOILO City – Six neophyte policewomen caught drinking in public in Sara, Iloilo may face dismissal from the police service.
A string of administrative charges were slapped Police Patrolwomen Jean Tiongco, 25; Jeseel Cordivito, 26; Ma. Lorena Semilla; 26; Rose May Ogboc, 21; Shane Grijaldo, 26; and Pearl Joy Araneta, 25.
They are set to undergo summary hearing procedures for their alleged offense.
Police Brigadier Rene Pamuspusan, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, said he is waiting for the recommendation of the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS), which will be submitted on Oct. 21.
The rookie lady cops were charged with less grave neglect of duty, less grave misconduct, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer (for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Municipal Executive Ordinance 025-D, Section 7 and Presidential and PNP Directives).
“They violated the order of President Rodrigo Duterte. Police personnel are not allowed to drink in a public place. It’s so disappointing. This is may be a small offense but they violated the instruction of the President,” Pamuspusan said.
Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the Discipline, Law and Order Section (DLOS) of the PNP Regional Personnel and Human Resource Doctrine Division sent summons to the six lady officers on Sept. 30.
While currently restricted at the PRO-6, the rookie cops are required to submit their answers to the charges within seven days from receipt of the summons.
Pamuspusan directed the heating officer-in-charge to fast track the investigation.
It was on Sept. 13 when the police women were caught binge drinking at Montejo’s restaurant in Barangay Pasig, Sara despite that they were under training.
That time, they were under the supervision of the Philippine National Police’s Training Service’s Regional Special Training Unit. They are not supposed to go out of their camp while in training./PN
