ILOILO — In a strong demonstration of community engagement and public service, the 604th Community Defense Center (CDC) of the 6th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command, Philippine Army, successfully conducted a bloodletting activity in Barangay Jelicuon, Cabatuan on December 7, 2025.

The initiative was led by Colonel Michael N. Asuncion, CE (GSC) PA, whose leadership continues to strengthen ties between the Army and local communities.

“This bloodletting activity is in collaboration with the municipality of Cabatuan through their RHU as part of the AFP Anniversary celebration. It was participated in by the constituents of Barangay Jelicuon, the organic personnel of the 604th Community Defense Center, and the Reservists of Alpha Company, 604RRIBn,” Col. Asuncion said.

He added that the activity also encouraged participation from various organizations not only to support those in need of blood, but also to promote better health among donors as their bodies naturally replenish donated blood.

The blood donation drive drew an impressive turnout of around 300 participants, including personnel from the Alpha Company of the 604th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion, the 12th Infantry Battalion, and the 552nd Engineer Construction Battalion of the 53rd Engineer Brigade.

The strong participation reflected the enduring partnership between the Philippine Army and the communities it serves, underscoring the military’s commitment to public health and community welfare.

In addition to the bloodletting activity, the event also offered a free haircut service or libreng gupit provided by skilled personnel from the 552nd Engineer Construction Battalion. The service brought joy to residents—particularly children, men, and women—who welcomed the opportunity for free grooming. Laughter and camaraderie filled the venue as families enjoyed the day’s activities.

The 604th CDC also announced upcoming community engagements that further highlight its commitment to service. On December 14, 2025, it will take part in another bloodletting activity in Cabatuan. This will be followed by a charity event on December 15 for the Ati community in Barangay Nagpana, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, where essential supplies and resources will be distributed.

Through these initiatives, the 604th Community Defense Center continues to advance its mission of serving and protecting the public while actively contributing to the well-being of communities across Iloilo. Its sustained efforts help foster unity and resilience among civilians and military personnel alike./PN
