MANILA – Farm Fresh Foxies notched their second straight win by sweeping Petro Gazz Angels, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23, in the PVL on Tour on Sunday night at the Capital Arena in Ilagan, Isabela.
Jolina Dela Cruz tallied a total of 12 points, coming from 11 attacks and one service ace, to earn Player of the Game honors for the Foxies, who improved to a 2-1 record.
“For this game, we didn’t think of anything else but to execute coach’s plays, and he also just really wanted us to enjoy,” said Dela Cruz. “At first, we were really slow, but it was all about patience and the trust of our teammates.”
Trisha Tubu once again led Farm Fresh’s offense with 15 points built on 13 attacks, one block, and one ace, while Caitlyn Viray added 12 points.
Trailing 19-21 late in the third set, the Foxies leaned on a scoring surge by Rachel Anne Daquis and a crucial error from Petro Gazz’s Jonah Sabete to tie the score at 23-all.
Farm Fresh kept the momentum, seizing match point at 24-23 with a Tubu attack before she sealed the victory with one more point.
Only Myla Pablo reached double figures for the Angels with 18 points, as they absorbed their second consecutive loss to drop to a 1-3 record.
Meanwhile, PLDT High Speed Hitters turned back Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-22, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17, to move closer to the quarterfinals round.
Jovielyn Prado and Kim Dy top-scored for the High Speed Hitters with 15 points apiece, while Kiesha Bedonia and Mary Joy Baron added 14 markers each./PN
