ILOILO City – A construction worker was arrested yesterday for stealing fruits and possessing a homemade gun in Barangay Q. Abeto, Mandurriao district.

Enan Capalihan, a resident of the village, was detained at the district police station around 12:40 a.m.

No less than the police caught Capalihan stealing fruits from a kiosk.

It was during the frisking that the police discovered the suspect concealing a gun – a homemade .38 revolver with six live ammunitions.

Aside from theft. Capalihan faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, specifically for possession of a loose firearm.

Under Article 1, Section 3 (v) of the Act, a loose firearm refers to an unregistered firearm, an obliterated or altered firearm, firearm which has been lost or stolen, illegally manufactured firearms, registered firearms in the possession of an individual other than the licensee and those with revoked licenses in accordance with the rules and regulations./PN
