BACOLOD City – Capitol has turned over P15 million worth of equipment and tools to irrigators’ associations in Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Among those given out to the farmers were threshers, mini wheel-drive tractors, weighing scales, harvesters, sprayers, grass cutters, centrifugal pump and engines, and floating tillers.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the distribution of the equipment and tools on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
The agricultural effects used in mechanized farming were seen to reduce pre- and postharvest losses, enhance ease and convenience of farm operation, increase yield and production, and increase the farmers’ income.
Marañon announced the provincial government plans to carry out more irrigation projects for all Negrense farmers.
Present during the distribution were Dr. Joyce Wendam, Department of Agriculture – Negros Island director; Rosamary Caunca, provincial consultant on local governance and inter-local government alliance for agricultural productivity; Engr. Mario Sande, National Irrigation Administration regional manager; and Bago City officials./PN
