ILOILO — To better serve the 5th District of Iloilo Province, Gates of Heaven: Gegato-Abecia Memorial Chapels Inc. officially opened its new branch in Barangay Anoring, Sara, Iloilo on June 6, 2026.
This landmark event introduces the first dedicated funeral chapel in the district, raising the standard for end-of-life care in the province.
The new location expands the company’s prominent footprint across Western Visayas, complementing its established branches in Iloilo City (three locations); Guimbal, Tigbauan and Igbaras towns in Iloilo; Roxas City in Capiz; and Antique.
For the residents of the 5th District, the establishment of this branch represents more than just a business growth – it is a promise to alleviate the emotional burden of grieving families.
Designed with comfort and accessibility in mind, the new facility offers a space where grieving families can find solace and support — a haven during life’s most challenging moments.
“This day marks a transformative milestone for the town of Sara,” stated Fely Gegato-Abecia, CEO and owner of Gegato-Abecia Memorial Chapels Inc.
“We believe that everyone deserves a dignified farewell. With our new branch, we can be closer to those in need, providing them with the compassionate care they deserve,” she added.
For decades, Gegato-Abecia Memorial Chapels Inc. has earned the trust of the Ilonggo community through its selfless dedication, including providing free burial services for families facing financial hardships.
To bring this venture to fruition in northern Iloilo, Gegato-Abecia partnered with Lemery’s Vice Mayor Lowel Arban, Ferdinand Dalopi from the United States, and Omar Montejo. The funeral home also maintains a strategic collaboration with PhilPlans, a company offering memorial plans — pre-packaged memorial services and arrangements designed to shield families from unexpected funeral expenses.
The opening was attended by numerous provincial and municipal officials, including Sara’s Mayor Jon N. Aying, Vice Mayor Arban, and Provincial Board members Nielito C. Tupas and Rolex T. Suplico, alongside various other guests.
As the first funeral chapel in Sara, this facility is poised to become a vital cornerstone of the local community. It aims to do more than just provide funeral services; it seeks to foster a sense of belonging and support among community members navigating the complexities of bereavement.
