Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Philippine National Police director, ordered the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) to arrest suspected drug lord Richard “Buang” Prevendido at all costs.
During his visit here yesterday, however, Dela Rosa did not give the regional police office a deadline.
The previous PRO-6 director, Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles, gave his men until Dec. 31, 2016 to arrest Prevendido but they all failed.
Dela Rosa instructed the PRO-6 to coordinate with the community to get more information on the fugitive.
Prevendido was recently spotted in Sitio Solong, Barangay San Juan, Sibalom, Antique in the house of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agent Macario Grasparil who was shot dead in a drug operation on June 21.
He disguised himself as an Ati, said Sibalom acting police chief, Inspector Clark Philip Dinco.
The current PRO-6 director, Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, said Prevendido’s arrest is one of his priorities.

Rolando Torpio, charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, was caught in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Arevalo district on Thursday around 9:30 p.m.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Presiding Judge Juanita Judita Panigbatan-Nafarete of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 38.
No bail bond was recommended for Torpio’s temporary liberty.
The Regional Trial Court, Branch 21 issued an arrest warrant against Prevendido on Jan. 6, 2017 for violation of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Prevendido was charged following the raid of his house on Oct. 21, 2016. Shabu were seized.
The city and provincial governments of Iloilo and the PRO-6 have a combined P1.1-million reward to whoever could give information leading to Prevendido’s arrest.
Dinco believed Prevendido sought shelter in Grasparil’s house because they were friends or they had drug-related transactions.
Meanwhile, just this April 28 PDEA raided Torpio’s house in Barangay South San Jose, Molo district. Torpio was not around but his wife Ime was. Sachets of shabu were recovered.
According to PDEA, Torpio resumed his illegal drug activities after posting bail for a 2013 drug case just this January.
The arrest of Torpio was a joint operation of PDEA, PRO-6’s Regional Intelligence Division, Iloilo Police Provincial Office, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Iloilo City Police Station 6./PN
