MANILA – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings is raring to finish off Meralco Bolts in Game 6 of the PBA Governors’ Cup best-of-seven finals tomorrow at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Justin Brownlee, who hit the title-clinching triple in Game 6 of the Governors’ Cup finals last year, expects his teammates to be extra motivated after moving a win closer to retaining the crown.
“I’m sure we’ll be fired up on Wednesday,” said Brownlee. “We just got to try hard because whatever we got to do, it’s going to be hard. Meralco’s a great team and for sure they will do everything to stay alive.”
Brownlee, who finished second to Bolts’ Allen Durham in the Best Import race, played an almost-no-relief game in Game 5 with 20 points, including 14 in the second half, in 46 minutes of play.
A third time returning import for Kings, Brownlee said he is more than willing to play for full 48 minutes come Game 6 to help his team complete its title-retention bid.
“I am ready to play even without rest in Game 6,” said Brownlee. “It doesn’t matter how long I play as long as I will be able to help my team achieve our goal of championship.”
“We’ve always felt confident but we know that we’re not done yet. We’re not satisfied,” he added. “[The] 3-2 [edge] is just being one game ahead. It’s not winning the series. So, we’re just trying to stay confident and look forward to next game.”/PN
