SAN JOSE, Antique – Around 480 schools in Antique have established hand-washing facilities, the Department of Education (DepEd) said.
Senior Education Specialist Salve Calon said they keep reminding schoolchildren that good hygiene through hand-washing prevents sickness.
Hand-washing facilities ensure that “health habits are integrated into the schoolchildren’s daily routines,” Calon said.
Sanitation, along with water and feeding, are “essential” child learner rights, the DepEd official said.
The DepEd-Antique has also held feeding in 348 schools with some 12,861 severely wasted and wasted children. (PIA/PN)
