Granada is MassKara street and arena dance champ

BACOLOD City – Barangay Granada was declared grand champion and received P1 million cash prize in the street and arena dance competition – the highlights of this year’s MassKara Festival.

Besting 16 other participating barangays, Granada also bagged two special awards – Best in Music and Most Disciplined.

Barangay Sum-ag was the first runner-up and received P500,000 cash prize, and got the Best in Mask and Costume special award, too.

The 2019 MassKara Festival street and arena dance champion, Barangay Estefania, settled as second runner-up. It received P300,000 cash prize and bagged the Best in Theme and Concept special award.

Other winners and their cash prizes are the following:

* 3rd runner-up – Barangay 35 (P250,000)

* 4th runner-up – Barangay Singcang-Airport (P150,000)

* 5th runner-up – Barangay Tangub (P50,000)

* 6th runner-up – Barangay 31 (P30,000)

* 7th runner-up – Barangay Alangilan (P20,000)

Electric MassKara

On the other hand, Barangay 17 was the grand champion of the Electric MassKara float and dance-off competition held on Saturday, Oct. 22. They took home P300,000 cash prize.

Barangay 25 was first runner-up and received P200,000 cash prize; and Barangay 32, second runner-up (P150,000 cash prize).

Aside from the championship, Barangay 17 won the Best Mask and Costume and Best Float special awards.

No less than President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. graced the highlights of this year’s edition of the festival.

The President lauded Bacolod City and Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez for holding possibly “the most successful” MassKara in the festival’s history.

With theme “Balik Yuhum”,” this year’s festival was organized by the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc. (BYFI) led by lawyer Pinky Ocampo as festival director./PN
