BACOLOD City – Via graveyard shift vaccination, more employees of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies here would be able to avail themselves of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Our BPO industry is important to the city’s economy,” said Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Onsite vaccination will start at 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., said City Administrator Em Ang.
“Regular call center agents cannot make it to the scheduled vaccination as they have to leave work while the graveyard shift agents would rather rest once they are home early in the morning,” explained Ang, also the executive director of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
The city government has already inoculated 180,045 residents, data from the EOC and the COVID-19 Vaccination Council showed. Some 79,656 have been fully vaccinated, as of Aug. 15.
Vaccination in malls and clustered barangays is ongoing.
The city government also has the VAX-i (mobile vaccination) program that targets vendors and public transport drivers, and a “drive-thru” vaccination at the fifth floor parking area of Ayala Malls Capitol Central./PN
