ILOILO City – A security guard turned himself in to the police after shooting a man on Delgado Street, City Proper.
The 27-year-old Jonas Tayo was stationed at the Veterans Bank on corner Delgado-Valeria streets. He is a resident of Barangay Libertad, Tapaz, Capiz but temporarily residing in Barangay Rizal, La Paz.
Nelbert Cuala, 25, of Barangay Sampaguita, City Proper was walking with his friends in front of Floyd’s BBQ around 10:45 p.m. on Sept. 27 when they heard a gunshot from the establishment, police said.
Cuala then discovered he already had a gunshot wound on the right arm.
While at Floyd’s, Tayo fired his gun three times and rushed back to the bank, police said.
It was not immediately clear why the security guard shot Cuala.
Tayo surrendered to the Iloilo City Police Station 1 around 11:15 p.m. and turned over his .9mm pistol and magazine. He was detained in the lockup cell of the same police station.
Cuala, on the other hand, was taken to the St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo on General Luna Street./PN
