ILOILO City – Police arrested a 21-year-old suspected illegal recruiter in an entrapment in Barangay Basa-Mabini, Dumangas, Iloilo.
Amielle Cleoffe Shaine Deciembre of Barangay Poblacion, Concepcion, Iloilo was detained in the lockup cell of the Dumangas police station.
Deciembre’s modus involves promising her clients work in a “Filipino-owned” restaurant Pinoy Grill in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, said Chief Inspector Rene Obregon, Dumangas police chief.
But according to Obregon, the restaurant does not exist.
Deciembre was caught around 9 a.m. on Thursday while transacting with the 26-year-old Mary Jane Junsay of Barangay Tamboilan, Dumangas, Iloilo — a client who sought police help on suspicion that Deciembre was a crook.
“We arrested her (Deciembre) when she received from Junsay a P1,000 ‘processing fee,’” Obregon said.
Obregon believes Deciembre victimized many others from Iloilo City. He said Junsay told them she belonged to the second batch of clients.
The suspect was “also operating in several other towns in Iloilo,” he said without naming the municipalities.
Police seized the following items from Deciembre:
* barangay clearances of Mary Faith Tongcua and Jed Alvia Perez
* an “acknowledgement receipt” dated Sept. 17, 2016
* a Samsung cell phone
* a cell phone battery
* a micro SIM card
* a memory card
* a short brown envelope, and
* lists of “applicants” with their contact numbers and signatures./PN
