BACOLOD City – A security guard shot dead a policeman in Canonoy Beach Resort in Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

The 39-year-old Joey Belenario of Sitio Hayang-Hayang, Barangay Anahaw, Hinigaran shot Police Officer 2 Britches Talapiero, 36, on the back at around 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, a police report showed.

Talapiero – who works at the Bacolod City Police Office – was rushed to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic where attending physician Dr. Jansen Vergara pronounced him “dead on arrival.”

From what the police gathered so far, Belenario was chasing Talapiero after the latter fired at the 22-year-old Leslie John Dojillo of Barangay Anahaw, Hinigaran.

Dojillo and Talapiero’s younger brother Rutchy had an altercation that day around 4:40 p.m., police said.

Dojillo sustained two gunshot wounds on the back and was also brought to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic and later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City where he was currently under treatment.

Dojillo and Rutchy were both drunk, according to the police.

The resort’s caretaker who the police identified only as “Estoya” turned over to the investigators a Glock 17 .9mm pistol with serial number PNP15148 loaded with 12 live bullets, a shotgun and a pistol belt with three shotgun bullets./PN
