MANILA — PLDT High Speed Hitters strengthened their hold on the top spot and moved closer to clinching a berth in the qualifying round after sweeping the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17, in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Playtime Filoil Centre in San Juan.
Powered by Savannah Davison’s explosive scoring, PLDT extended its winning streak to three games and improved to a league-best 6-1 record, keeping its momentum intact as the tournament heads into its crucial stretch.
Davison led the High Speed Hitters with 21 points, while Mika Reyes chipped in 10 markers as PLDT dictated the tempo from the opening serve and never allowed Galeries Tower to gain traction.
The High Speed Hitters took command early, cruising through the first set before weathering a closer contest in the second frame. PLDT then pulled away late in the third set to seal the straight-sets victory and inch closer to the qualifying round.
Despite their strong position in the standings, PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort said the team remains focused on taking the competition one match at a time, especially with challenging games still ahead.
“Actually, yung feeling hindi malapit na yung tapos na ngayon kasi apakabigat ng remaining games namin. Remind ko naman sa players, nahihirap talaga na tumingin ng sobrang layo,” said Ricafort.
“Talagang one game na tayo muna. Happy kami na nairaos ngayon kasi after this game, sabak ulit kami ng Saturday,” he added, referring to their upcoming game against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
Jean Asis finished with nine points, while Gayle Pascual added eight markers for Galeries Tower, which dropped to a 2-5 record and remained in ninth place in the standings.
In another match, Farm Fresh Foxies finally broke through in a five-set battle after rallying past the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 21-25, 25-22, 16-25, 25-18, 15-9, leaving both teams with identical 3-4 records.
Trisha Tubu led the Foxies with 22 points, including six blocks, while Ces Molina delivered an all-around performance with 17 points along with a triple-double of 13 digs and 13 receptions.
Former Choco Mucho player Honey Royce Tubino scored 14 points, while Riri Meneses added 10 markers highlighted by two blocks. Setter Alohi Robins-Hardy directed the offense with 22 excellent sets./PN
