ILOILO City – Around 130 grams of alleged shabu were confiscated from a 47-year-old man during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Magsaysay, City Proper district.
Alias “Bong Bong”, a resident of the district’s Barangay Veterans Village, was tagged by the police as a high-value target.
The operation was carried out at 11:45 p.m. on November 26 by joint elements of the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit, Police Station 1’s Station Drug Enforcement Team and Special Weapons and Tactics Team, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 6.
Police recovered suspected shabu approximately valued at P884,000, P8,000 in buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), lauded the operating units for the successful seizure and arrest.
“This accomplishment shows our firm dedication to keeping our communities safe from the dangers of illegal drugs. Let this also be a clear reminder that PRO-6 will continue to strengthen our efforts and make sure that anyone who endangers the people of Western Visayas will face the law,” Ligan added.
The suspect was detained at Police Station 1, facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
