ILOILO City – The No. 1 most wanted person in Western Visayas for rape was arrested on Monday, December 1, in Barangay Zone II, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
The 36-year-old alias “Ben” of Cabatuan town was apprehended at 12:45 p.m. through an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court 6’s Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo for 55 counts of rape, including 12 counts of qualified rape.
According to Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), the suspect was accused of raping his own daughters aged 15 and 16.
As of press time, the suspect was detained at the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station.
Meanwhile, Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, acknowledged the effort made by the IPPO personnel to run after fugitives.
“I commend our operating teams for the successful arrest. This accomplishment was a clear reminder that justice may take time, but it always catches up. Let this serve as reassurance to the public that your Police Regional Office 6 remains steadfast in pursuing criminals and protecting every community.
