ILOILO – Authorities arrested a high-value individual and seized around P401,200 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation on Wednesday, May 27, in Barangay Poblacion Norte, Balasan town.
The suspect was identified as alias “Luiz,” 26 years old, single, and a resident of the said place.
The operation, carried out by joint operatives of the Balasan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force, stemmed from information provided by concerned citizens and month-long intelligence monitoring and case build-up.
Recovered from Luiz were approximately 59 grams of alleged shabu, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
The suspect was detained at Balasan MPS. He will be charged for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“This operation is a clear result of strong police-community cooperation. The information provided by concerned citizens, combined with sustained intelligence work, led to the arrest of an HVI,” said Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) acting director Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño.
The region’s top cop added that the PRO-6 remains steadfast in advancing its operational thrust anchored on responsive, trusted, and transformative policing for a safer Western Visayas, in support of the Philippine National Police’s vision of “Bagong PNP para sa bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”/PN
