BACOLOD City – Department of Interior and Local Government undersecretary Jesus Hinlo Jr. confirmed that Malacañang invited him to work at the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).
The Office of the President will have to decide on his movement, the Bacolodnon lawyer said.
Hinlo clarified there was no written invitation. “It was only an offer,” he said.
“It is my advocacy to promote investment and industrialization in the Philippines, especially in the provinces. So, if the President decides to put me in LBP, I will wholeheartedly accept it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hinlo said he will continue serving at the Interior department.
Asked if the invitation was related to former Interior secretary Ismael Sueno’s removal from office, Hinlo said, “We cannot speculate on the decision of the President.”
“The point is, if you are given a new assignment, you have to accept it, especially in LBP. [If ever], I will have four Cabinet secretaries as coworkers: Finance, Agrarian Reform, Agriculture, and Labor,” he said.
He said the four departments can help in the development of Negros.
