NEGROS Occidental – A 65-year-old man claimed he was assaulted inside the barangay hall of in Purok 2, Barangay Culipapa, Hinoba-an town, at around 10:30 a.m. on July 15.
Ricardo Castillo, a married resident of the same barangays, tagged the barangay captain and four tanods, said Police Major Jaynick Bermudez, chief of the Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Castillo personally complained at the police station. He also claimed he was threatened, said Bermudez.
Initial police investigation showed an altercation happened earlier that day between the complainant and barangay officials but was settled.
However, hours later, a resident went to the barangay hall to report that Castillo was allegedly intoxicated and causing trouble.
The barangay captain and tanods “Niko,” 53; “Jose,” 46; “Ian,” 51; and “Ben,” 56, went to Castillo’s residence and brought him to the barangay hall.
Castillo claimed he was beaten there then released.
The barangay captain and the four tanods have surrendered to the authorities. They are facing charges of physical injury.
But Bermudez disclosed that the accused intend to file counter-charges against Castillo./PN
