‘Hoodlums in uniform’ no place in WV – top cop

ILOILO City – The new director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, vowed to purge his rank of scalawags.

“There will be no room for breach of discipline and misconduct under the redefined doctrine of command responsibility,” said Dongbo.

He emphasized that being police officers does warrant them to freely engage in illegal activities.

“Once may sapat na ebidensya, tinitiyak natin na ma-dismiss sila,” said Dongbo, the former chief of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group.

Disciplining the 13,000-police force in Western Visayas, he added, is part of PNP’s “internal cleansing.”

He directed all unit commanders to be responsible for the conduct of their men, especially those who are involved in criminal activities as well as corruption.

Dongbo also reminded his men to remain apolitical.

“We will never allow ourselves to be used for anyone’s political ends,” he said. “PRO-6 will remain faithful to our apolitical mandate to ensure and protect the will of the electorate in honest and orderly elections.”

The top cop said they are now busy preparing for the May 2022 elections in coordination with the Commission on Elections.

According to Dongbo, their preparations included the 5Ps:

*  predict – The police should anticipate possible incidents.

*  prevent – They should know what to do in preventing such.

*  prepare – They must have a course of action.

*  practice – Simulation exercise, rehearsals and checkpoints should be done.

*  perform professionally – The police should apply their plans come Election Day and carry out post-election activities./PN
