ILOILO City – A security guard was taken in the hospital he was stationed at after accidentally shooting his hand.
The 31-year-old Nygiel Pedrola of Barangay Barasan, Pototan, Iloilo sustained a gunshot wound on the left palm, a police report showed.
The Mandurriao police station learned about the incident at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Pedrola, an employee of Unit 8 Security Agency, Inc., was detailed at Medicus Medical Center in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao.
He was about to unload his .9mm service firearm when he accidentally squeezed the trigger, investigation showed.
The Mandurriao police took the firearm and six unfired cartridges in custody.
The deformed slug and the fire cartridge recovered from the accidental shooting site will be subject to a ballistic examination, the police report stated./PN
