House raid yields guns, ammos

BACOLOD City – Police arrested two brothers who own unlicensed guns and ammunitions in Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The 63-year-old Gil and 66-year-old Armando Trecho were caught after the police raided their house on the strength of an arrest warrant around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The warrant was issued by Judge Estefanio Libutan Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 50 in Bacolod City.

Recovered from Gil’s possession were a carbine rifle with defaced serial number; three short steel magazine of carbine rifle; a long steel magazine of carbine rifle; and four live bullets of carbine rifle.

Police were able seize a machine pistol with serial number 604170 with two steel magazines; 23 live bullets of a 91-mm pistol; a .45- caliber pistol with two steel magazines and eight live bullets of .45-caliber gun . 

The Trechos were reportedly involved in some shooting incidents in the area, police said.

They were detained in the lockup facility of the Talisay police station, facing charges./PN
