House raid yields guns, ammunition

NEW WASHINGTON, Aklan – Police raided a house in Sitio Bogasongan, Barangay Guinbaliwan here and found the following:

* a .45 pistol (Caspian) with Serial No. 217525

* five magazines Assy of .45

* 55 live ammunitions for a .45 pistol

* holster

* two magazine pouches

* a revolver without serial number

* four live ammunitions of .9mm pistol

The subject of the raid, 45-year-old John Arboleda, was arrested.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (Aklan Field Unit) and New Washington police station staged the raid at around 6 a.m. on May 27 assisted by the Provincial Intelligence Team and Provincial Highway Patrol Team. They said Arboleda failed to show pertinent papers for the seized firearms and ammunition.

The search warrant (No. MPPJr-001-2021) was issued on May 26 by Vice Executive Judge Montalid Patnubay Jr. of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 9 (Kalibo, Aklan).

Intelligence information reached the police about Arboleda having firearms and about alleged indiscriminate firing, thus a search warrant was sought.

The search was done in the presence of barangay officials.

The Police Regional Office 6 vowed to intensify its campaign against loose firearms.

“We will make sure to apprehend all illegal gun holders,” said Western Visayas police director Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda./PN
