IBP-Capiz offers to help scammed investors

ROXAS City – The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Capiz Chapter is ready to help victims of investment scams in the province.

IBP-Capiz, through its president Atty. Jojie Earl Del Castillo, offered their service during a recent hearing on various questionable investment schemes in Capiz conducted by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) convening as a committee of the whole.

IBP-Capiz advised investors to go to the Hall of Justice for the processing of the necessary documents relative to the filing of charges.

If formal complaints are filed, a favorable court order may be secured and the investors may be able to recoup their investments.

Meanwhile, the chief executive officers (CEO) of various investment schemes in Capiz were given until March 31 this year to return the money of their investors.

According to SP member Jonathan “Sonny” Besa, chairman of the Committee on Finance and Appropriation, they asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for a “ceasefire” with CEOs who will conduct payouts.

If by March 31 the CEOs would still fail to return their investors’ money, legal moves would be taken against them.

SP is also eyeing to create a multiagency taskforce that will focus on investment-related activities in the province./PN
