TIGBAUAN, Iloilo – The Iloilo I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ILECO I) has successfully completed its month-long power restoration mission in Masbate, demonstrating the enduring Filipino spirit of bayanihan and solidarity among electric cooperatives.
Six lineworkers from ILECO I, known as the “Warriors of Light,” were deployed on September 30, 2025, to assist the Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO) in restoring electricity in areas heavily affected by Typhoon “Opong.” The team returned to Iloilo on October 30, 2025, after accomplishing their mission with impressive results.
Under the leadership of Task Force Kapatid (TFK) Team Leader Eliseo Porras, Jr. and the supervision of General Manager Engr. Miguel A. Paguntalan, Jr., the ILECO I contingent focused their operations in the Municipality of Milagros, Masbate. By October 28, they had successfully re-energized nearly 94 percent of households within their assigned coverage area — restoring not only electricity but also hope to the affected communities.
Before their deployment, the team underwent comprehensive safety and readiness briefings led by Technical Services Department Manager Engr. GC June N. Garanchon and Safety Officer Ronaldo Suitado, ensuring both efficiency and safety in their field operations.
ILECO I lauded its Warriors of Light for their courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to service, saying their mission exemplified the true essence of bayanihan — the collective effort to uplift others in times of adversity.
The successful completion of the Task Force Kapatid mission underscores ILECO I’s dedication to the principle of “Cooperation Among Electric Cooperatives” and reinforces the resilience of the One EC Network across the nation.
