BACOLOD City – In Barangay Rizal, Silay City, Negros Occidental, police apprehended four persons allegedly engaging in illegal cock derby.
They were residents William Hernaez, 42; Alejandro Hinolan, 44; Nilo Jaranilla, 37; and Ruel Cordero, 35, police said.
The suspects were caught around 12:20 p.m. on May 15.
A game fowl and P1,380 bet money were confiscated.
However, one of the suspects – Hernaez – yielded suspected shabu worth P40,800 and drug paraphernalia when frisked.
The suspects were detained in the custodial facility of the Silay City police station, facing charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602 that outlaws illegal gambling.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will also be filed against Hernaez./PN
