ILOILO City – In Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro district a 34-year-old man was caught soliciting bets for an illegal numbers game.

Jonathan Dela Cruz, a resident of Barangay San Pedro, Molo district, was detained at the Jaro police station around 3:50 p.m. on Saturday.

The arresting police officer recovered from Dela Cruz betting slips, a black pen and P1,100 cash in various denominations.

Dela Cruz faces a charge for violating Republic 9287 that outlaws illegal gambling, specifically Section 3 (c).

If found guilty by the court for being a collector or agent (cabo, cobrador, coriador or variants thereof), Dela Cruz faces the penalty of imprisonment from eight years and one day to 10 years./PN
