Iloilo 5th District tracksters, archers shine in ISSC Meet

ILOILO City – Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA) 5 continued its dominance in athletics of the 2019 Iloilo School Sports Council Meet at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

Rhea Bullos increased her gold medal haul in elementary girls athletics to three after topping the 1,500- and 400-meter events on top of the 800 meters she won on Monday.

Rhealyn De Costa also nailed her third gold for topping the secondary girls shot put while also placing runner up in elementary shot put behind fellow CDSA 5’s Thea Vales.

Also winning golds for CDSA 5 were Edna Magtubo in secondary girls 1,500 meters, Jhon Roy dela Cruz in elementary boys 1,500 meters, James Bandojo in secondary boys 1,500 meters, and Vincent Laguerta in elementary boys shot put.

CDSA 5 also showed prowess in archery with Mae Lyn Navarro and Colyn Therese Paciente clinching the gold and silver medals in the secondary girls 50 meters event, while Karren Kate Suerte of CDSA 2 nabbed the bronze.

Navarro netted her second gold in the secondary girls 30 meters event; she defeated Jade Ann Nierves of CDSA 2 and Paciente.

Shann Michael Sumagaysay ruled the secondary boys’ 30 meters over Ric Warren Magapa (CDSA 1) and Lloyd Melbourne Barredo (CDSA 2).

Magapa, meanwhile, delivered a gold for CDSA 1 in secondary boys 50 meters, defeating Sumagaysay and Barredo, as Nierva also won a gold for CDSA 1 in secondary girls 40 meters edging Navarro and teammate Pamela Joy Nufable.

The ILOPRISAA Poomsae team also showed their dominance in elementary boys and girls and secondary boys and girls event as they took home a total of 23 golds, eight silver and five bronze medals.

The elementary boys notched golds in Individual A, team and mixed pair poomsae, silver in Individual B, while the elementary girls won golds in Individual A and B, mixed pair and team poomsae.

The ILOPRISAA secondary boys poomsae team ruled the Individual A and B and Team Poomsae, while the secondary girls netted golds in Individual A and B, team and mixed pair events./PN
