ILOILO City – The city government is preparing for a drop in its Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) next year.
According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) alerted local government units regarding this.
The drop would be due to the low collection of the national government caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic.
The city mayor had a briefing yesterday with the City Budget Office so they can prepare as early for this.
“We have to prepare our own budget, come up with our measures,” said Treñas.
The decrease in IRA share is expected to be around 16 percent, he added.
Despite this, Treñas assured the public that the city government’s existing programs and projects will continue.
Last year, the city was able to accrue over P400-million surplus from its 2021 accounts.
