ILOILO City – Face-to-face classes in all public and private schools here shift online from February 25 to 27 as Iloilo City tightens security and traffic control measures for the 49th High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration.
Mayor Raisa Treñas approved the suspension upon the recommendation of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), citing the need to manage congestion and safeguard delegates and residents during the three-day international gathering.
“Following the recommendation of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), I have approved the suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels, both public and private schools,” Treñas said.
The mayor described the move as a proactive step to minimize traffic disruptions and reinforce security arrangements as foreign delegates and national officials converge in the city.
“This proactive measure is intended to help ease traffic congestion and ensure the safety and security of delegates, residents, and our students during this high-level international gathering,” she said.
Schools are encouraged to implement online or alternative learning modalities to ensure continuity of instruction during the suspension period.
“Schools are urged to temporarily shift to online or alternative learning modalities to ensure that the education of our students continues uninterrupted,” Treñas added.
The mayor also appealed for cooperation from parents and the academic community as the city prepares to host the regional meeting.
“We ask for the understanding and cooperation of parents, school administrators, and the entire academic community as we work together to ensure a safe, orderly, and successful hosting of this important event for our city and the country,” she said.
