Iloilo City’s solid waste best practices cited

ILOILO City – The government was recognized for sound practices for Materials Recovery Facilities Operations, Composting Operations, Upcycling and Crafts Production, Sanitary Landfill Operations, Closure and Rehabilitation of Dumpsites, and other innovative practices by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region 6.

The  recognition was given during the awarding ceremony of the outstanding solid waste management practices in the region among 27 awardees including Central Philippine University, Iloilo Province, municipalities of Alimodian, Ajuy, Lambunao, Carles, Concepcion, Oton, Passi City, Guimaras Province; Municipalities of Bugasong, Sibalom, and Patnongon in Antique; Capiz Province and municipalities of Ivisan, Dumarao, Dao, and Pan-ay; Province of Negros Occidental, and Cities of Sipalay, Kabankalan, San Carlos, and Talisay, Municipality of Pulupandan, and Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City; and Municipality of Buruanga, Aklan.

EMB-6 piloted the Regional Launching of the National Plan of Action for the Prevention, Reduction, and Management of Marine Litter (NPOA-ML) in the country with several Western Visayas LGUs, environmental leaders, and private sector. (Iloilo City PIO /PN)
