ILOILO – The provincial government is exploring two ambitious projects — a modern railway system and agrovoltaic farming technology — that could dramatically reshape the province’s transport network and agricultural sector.
Provincial officials have begun discussions with APL Inc., Shu Electricity and Railway Consultant Co. of Japan, and Ronich Holdings Corp. to study the feasibility of these initiatives.
These projects have the potential to significantly enhance local infrastructure and promote sustainable practices within the province, the provincial government said.
The proposed railway system aims to improve mobility and connectivity not only within Iloilo but also across neighboring provinces. It is envisioned to cut travel time, ensure safer commutes, and expand access to economic opportunities.
Meanwhile, the agrovoltaic project seeks to combine solar energy systems with crop production, allowing farmers to increase yields while producing clean energy.
The system promises to reduce farm costs, create alternative income streams, and help agriculture adapt to climate challenges.
These initiatives are designed to foster improved public services and create vibrant economic opportunities for local communities, the provincial government said.
