ILOILO City – Two sugar centrals and a diesel power plant in Iloilo province are targets of the New People’s Army’s (NPA) Central Front Committee, according to intelligence sources of the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The sources identified the Central Azucarera de San Antonio in the boundary shared by Barangay Cadilang, Passi City and Barangay Punong Grande, Dueñas, Iloilo; Universal Robina Corp.’s sugar central in Barangay Imbang Pequeño, San Enrique Iloilo; and Salcon Power Corp.’s diesel power plant in Barangay Tabugon, Dingle Iloilo.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) is on red alert status, said Chief Inspector Aron Palomo, spokesperson.
Teams from the IPPO’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Public Safety Company were deployed to these areas, he added.
“We conducted a validation. The results were negative. Still, we deployed augmentation forces to these areas. We don’t want to be complacent. We have to be alert always,” said Palomo.
The 3rd infantry Division of the Philippine Army also mobilized its soldiers, said its spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Ericson Rosana, specifically in the towns of San Enrique, Lambunao, Calinog, and Janiuay, Passi City and even some towns in Capiz province./PN
