MANILA – Fiola Ceballos is set to reunite with long-time teammate and fellow Ilongga Jovelyn Gonzaga after agreeing to a deal with Cignal HD Spikers ahead of the 2020 Philippine Superliga.
In an announcement made by the team on Monday evening, the Bingawan, Iloilo-native Ceballos signed with the HD Spikers after a three-year stint with the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers.
Ceballos and Guimarasnon Gonzaga were former teammates at the Central Philippine University Golden Lions and were part of the school’s numerous championship runs.
Aside from indoor volleyball, Ceballos and Gonzaga also teamed up in various beach volleyball competitions and have won numerous championships.
The 5-foot-7 outside hitter Ceballos was a welcome addition for the HD Spikers team following the recent departure of Mylene Paat and Jannine Navarro.
Ceballos was an integral cog on Lifesavers’ offense and defense last year after taking over the spot of injured Angeli Araneta even dropping a monster 30-point, 30-dig double-double performance against Cignal during that stretch./PN
