MANILA – Ilonggo Alfrence Braza and Negrense Bernalyn Bejoy captured a silver medal each in the 85th Singapore Open Track and Field Championships held recently at the Singapore Sports Hub.

The Iloilo City-native Braza took home a silver medal in the men’s 1,500-meter event with his 3:56.25 clocking, behind gold medal winner Yad Hapizudin of Indonesia, who had 3:53.99.

“I am beyond grateful for my family and those who never stop praying and believing in me,” Braza said in a social media post. “Big thanks as well to PATAFA for the continued support.”

The Bacolod City-native Bejoy, on the other hand, also settled for a silver medal in the women’s 800-meter run with 2:10.91 clocking, behind Thailand’s Benny Nontanam (2:10.49).

“This moment means a lot, because it reminds me of how far I’ve come and how far I still want to go,” Bejoy wrote in a social media post. “Still I’m proud of this result, but I know there’s more in me.”

“With God’s grace, love, and the support of those around me, I’ll keep pushing past my limits. I believe this is only a glimpse of what’s possible,” added the former De La Salle University standout.

Meanwhile, Ronnie Malipay delivered the lone gold medal for Team Philippines in the men’s triple jump with 15.49-meter performance.

Also with silver medals for Team Philippines are Sonny Wagdos in the men’s 5,000-meter event, and Hokett Delos Santos in the men’s pole vault with 5.05-meter performance./PN
