MANILA – Standouts from the Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym harvested medals in the first two days of the 2021 Smart/MVPSF Asian Open Online Taekwondo Poomsae & Speed Kicking Championships held over the weekend.
The Denmark Pinggol-mentored squad garnered 10 medals in poomsae (five gold, three silver, and two bronze medals) and 16 in the speed kicking (six gold, four silver, and six bronze medals) with still a day remaining in the competition.
The gold medalists in poomsae are Cyd Edryc Esmaña (Cadet Male Black 14 years old A), Phil Caleb Regalado (Kids Male 4th-3rd Kup 10 years old B), Niesha Kariz Pequierda (Cadet Female Black 13 years old A), Julianna Martha Uy (Cadet Female Black 13 years old C), and Andria Margaret Palabrica (Kids Female 2nd-1st Kup 11 years old A).
Viene Marie Dulaca (Mini Kids Female 6th-5th Kup seven years old), Maria Beatriz Santos (Kids Female 2nd-1st Kup 10 years old A), and Clyde Anthony Chua (Junior Male Black 15 years old B) added silver medals for the Iloilo City-based taekwondo team.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal awardees in poomsae are Joshua Cachero in Senior Male 19 years old and Crisgel Castro in the Cadet Male Black 13 years old A category.
In the speed kicking category, Charee Marie Florence Genecela (Kids Female 6th-5th Kup 10 years old B), Marielle Faye Lagamo (Junior Female 2nd-1st Kup Lgt-Wel), Ianna Gabriella Rosales (Kids Female 6th-5th Kup 10 years old A), James Annrhey Pecayco (Cadet Male 4th-3rd Kup Ban – Fea), Eujean Ivanka Castete (Kids Female 4th-3rd Kup 11 years old), and Alexis Araneta (Cadet Female Black Fin-Fly) notched gold medals.
Adrian Joseph Gajasan III (Kids Male Red 4th-3rd Kup nine years old A), Lindsy Lorraine Degayo (Cadet Female 4th-3rd Kup Light), Alicia Sophia Gutierrez (Senior Female 6th-5th Kup Fin-Fea), and Jenella Ashley Tionko (Kids Female 6th-5th Kup 11 years old B) earned silver medals.
Winning bronze medals in speed kicking are Pearl Danielle Rosales (Mini Kids Female 6th-5th Kup six to seven years old), Margarette Gem Obsequio (Kids Female 4th-3rd Kup 10 years old B), Francheska Isobelle Dunton (Cadet Female 6th-5th Kup Feather), Anthony Benedict Planta (Mini Kids 6th-5th Kup eight years old A), Jeremiah Miguel Ong (Mini Kids Male 8th-7th Kup seven years old B), and Shires Pastolero (Junior Female 6th-5th Kup Light).
On the other hand, Zarraga Taekwondo Dojang-Philippines bagged 10 medals on the first day of the speed-kicking tilt.
The gold medal winners are Ma. Roselle Pueyo, January Grizzel Alim, Djezelree Clavel, and Herlyn Mende, while Prinz Khyzyl Eufan and Sean Jerrell Sencida captured silver medals.
Precious Janna Subong, Ma. Christianne Nikki Sudayan, Keira Pradas, and Jaden Paul Aranjuez finished with bronze medals./PN
