MANILA – Ilonggo guards Aaron Jeruta and Billy Ray Robles are among the first 17 applicants who have declared their intention to join the 2016 PBA Rookie Draft to be held on Oct. 30.
The Iloilo City-native Jeruta was one of the vital cogs of many-time NAASCU champion Centro Escolar University Scorpions. He also played a huge role for one-time PBA D-League champion Café France Bakers.
Robles, on the other hand, made a name for himself as one of the cagers of the Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College before strutting his wares in the PBA D-League with the Racal Tile Masters.
Other prominent players who have filed their draft applications are Gilas Pilipinas 5.0 member Carl Bryan Cruz, former Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers gunner Jaycee Asuncion, and Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals guard Jan Jamon.
Also in the draft list are Phoenix Accelerators big man Raymond Jamito, Levi Hernandez, Joseph Eriobu, Jessie Saitanan, Jayson Ibay, Erwin Duran, Jairold Flores, Cedrick Ablaza and Jericho de Guzman.
Among the Fil-foreigners who are joining the drafts are PBA D-League standouts Ryan Arambulo and Rashawn McCarthy and Timothy Habelito of Queensland University of Technology in New Zealand.
Blackwater Elite owns the top-overall pick following its sub-par showing in the 40th season. It will be followed by the Phoenix Fuel Masters, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, Mahindra Enforcers, Star Hotshots and San Miguel Beermen.
Completing the first round are the Meralco Bolts, NLEX Road Warriors, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, Kings, Alaska Aces and Fuel Masters. TNT Katropa and GlobalPort Batang Pier have no draft rights in the first round.
Picking in the second round (in order) are the Road Warriors, Painters, Batang Pier, Bolts, Aces, Painters, Batang Pier, Fuel Masters, Painters, Enforcers and Aces./PN
