Incentive payouts to 14,500 barangay volunteers starts

ILOILO – The Iloilo provincial government has rolled out a province-wide distribution of cash incentives to nearly 14,500 barangay volunteers, marking one of its largest grassroots support programs this year as it seeks to reinforce community-based service delivery across all districts.

The initiative formally commenced Tuesday, Dec. 2, after Provincial Administrator Raul Banias signed a P72.5-million check the previous day for the incentive fund covering Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), Day Care Workers (DCWs), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS).

Each volunteer is set to receive P5,000 in cash as recognition of their daily frontline work in health, nutrition, childcare, and community engagement.

“This yearly initiative reflects a heartfelt appreciation for every volunteer who has been the backbone of public service in the grassroots, supporting families and upholding the health and well-being of residents across the province,” read a statement posted by Balita Halin sa Kapitolyo, the official Facebook page of the provincial government.

Paymasters from the provincial government will facilitate the onsite release of incentives through clustered distribution venues to spare volunteers from traveling to the capitol.
